Laurie Baker: 100 Years

at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2016
Jan 29, 2017

Kochi Biennale Foundation pays tribute with Laurie Baker: 100 Years. Baker was a pioneer of ecological building philosophy, and his architectural interventions across India, particularly Kerala, have put forward new terms for the social role and meaning of the architect.

Laurie Baker: 100 Years will begin with the screening of the documentary Uncommon Sense: The Life and Architecture of Laurie Baker, a biographical film on Baker directed by Vineet Radhakrishnan.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with a pan-Indian group of eminent architects who have been inspired by Baker’s practice. They include: Sanjay Prakash, Ashok Lall, Vinod Gupta, Vikram Varma, Siddhartha Wig, Surya Kakani, Dean D’Cruz, Himanshu Burte, Malini Krishnankutty, Chitra Vishwanath, Jeeth Iype, Sathya Prakash Varanashi,  Suhasini Ayer, Dharmesh Jadeja and Jaigopal Rao, and other architects from COSTFORD, Thiruvananthapuram.

Laurie Baker: 100 Years is executed with the support of Vineet Radhakrishnan and Gubbi.
